TPS in Alzheimer’s disease – The 2025 survey highlights clinical experience from institutes worldwide

Transcranial Pulse Stimulation (TPS) is an innovative treatment method for patients with Alzheimer’s disease. To better understand its clinical application and gain an overview of patient numbers and treatment outcomes, we conduct annual surveys. This year’s survey included participation from 33 centres. The analysis provides valuable insights into the practical use of TPS in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Number of patients with Alzheimer’s disease treated with TPS

The survey analysis showed that, in 2025 alone, a total of 785 patients with Alzheimer’s disease were treated with TPS in more than 17,690 sessions across the 33 participating centres.

Application of TPS: Sessions and pulses

The survey revealed that 88% of centres follow the recommended TPS treatment protocol:

Additional booster sessions are performed by 97% of centres, typically at intervals averaging seven weeks.

Energy levels used in TPS treatment

More than half of the centres (approximately 56%) use the recommended energy level of 0.25 mJ/mm², which represents the maximum applicable energy within the TPS protocol.

Overall clinical impression with TPS: Treatment outcomes and side effects

Consistent with previously published clinical TPS studies, the survey showed that many centres observed positive clinical treatment outcomes. Fifty-five percent of centres reported slight improvements, while another 41% observed significant improvements. Approximately 3% of centres stated that their patients’ condition remained stable. No centre reported deterioration.

The majority of centres (94%) reported no side effects. When side effects occurred, they were generally well tolerated, mild in nature, and resolved within a few hours. Headaches were reported as a side effect.

The 2025 TPS survey provides valuable clinical insights into the use of TPS. We are already looking forward to next year’s survey.
